Privacy Policy | BDcrafty

1. Who we are

BDcrafty (https://bdcrafty.com/) is a DIY and craft tutorials website. We publish original DIY tutorials, paper craft guides, home decor projects, recycled craft ideas, gift and seasonal projects, and free craft tools, including a Craft Cost Calculator, Paper Size Converter, Measurement Converter, Paper Template Calculator, and Craft Project Planner.

For questions about this policy, contact us at contact@bdcrafty.com. Our stated aim is to reply within 2–3 business days, as set out on our Contact page.

2. What information we collect and why

We collect only the information needed to run the site, respond to you, understand how the site is used, and — if advertising is enabled — show relevant advertising. You can read tutorials and use our free tools without creating an account.

a) Comments

If you leave a comment on a tutorial, we collect the information shown in the comment form, such as your name and email address, along with your IP address and browser user agent string. This helps us detect spam and follow up on comments.

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically, instead of holding every comment for moderation.

b) Contact emails

If you email us — for general enquiries at contact@bdcrafty.com, tutorial requests at tutorials@bdcrafty.com, or copyright matters at dmca@bdcrafty.com — we collect the information you send us, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We use it only to reply to you and to deal with your enquiry. We keep contact emails for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping.

We do not publish your email address.

c) Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use BDcrafty — for example, which tutorials are popular and which devices are used. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and general device and browser information. This information is aggregated and does not, by itself, identify you by name.

You can control analytics cookies through your browser settings and through the cookie controls described in our Cookie Policy.

d) Craft tools

Our free craft tools help you calculate costs, convert paper sizes and measurements, plan projects, and work out templates. Inputs you enter into a tool are used to produce the result you asked for.

The Craft Project Planner may store your project information in your browser’s local storage, so your plan is still there when you return on the same device and browser. That information stays in your browser; it is not used to identify you, and we do not use tool inputs for advertising.

e) Embedded content

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, or other material from other websites. Embedded content from another website behaves in the same way as if you had visited that other website directly. It may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with it, including if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

f) Cookies

We use cookies for essential site functions, for analytics, and — only if advertising is enabled — for advertising. The cookies we use include:

  • WordPress / session cookies, needed for the site to work and for comment functions.
  • Google Analytics cookies: _ga (2 years), _gid (24 hours), and _gat (1 minute).
  • bdcrafty_consent (1 year), used to remember your cookie consent choice.
  • Local storage for the Craft Project Planner, as described above.

For full details, see our Cookie Policy at https://bdcrafty.com/cookie-policy/.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect how the site works.

3. Advertising — Google AdSense

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, or by visiting https://www.aboutads.info. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting https://www.aboutads.info.

This section applies when display advertising is active on BDcrafty. If advertising is not currently active, it describes the advertising cookies that will apply if and when Google AdSense or a similar advertising service is enabled. We do not control the cookies set by Google or other advertising partners, and this policy should be read together with Google’s advertising and privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

4. Affiliate links

Some tutorials may contain affiliate links, for example to products mentioned in a project. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partners may use cookies to track referrals. See our Disclaimer and Terms & Conditions for our affiliate disclosure.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the site, and only with:

  • Our hosting and site service providers, who help keep the site running and secure.
  • Google Analytics, for the aggregated usage statistics described above.
  • Spam-detection services, if used to protect comments and contact forms.
  • Advertising partners, including Google, only if advertising is enabled, as described in Section 3.
  • Law enforcement or other authorities, only where required by law.

If we are required by law to disclose information, we will do so only to the extent required.

6. How long we retain your information

  • Comments and their metadata: retained indefinitely, as described in Section 2(a).
  • Contact emails: retained for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
  • Analytics data: retained according to Google Analytics settings.
  • Cookies: retained for the periods listed in Section 2(f) and in our Cookie Policy, or until you delete them.

7. Your rights over your information

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing of it. You may also withdraw any consent you have given, where processing is based on consent.

To make a request, email contact@bdcrafty.com. Please include enough detail for us to identify the information concerned, such as the comment or email address used. We will respond within a reasonable time, aiming for 2–3 business days for an initial reply.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. Please do not send sensitive personal information, such as passwords or payment details, by email or in a public comment. BDcrafty does not ask you for payment details to read tutorials or use its free tools.

9. Children’s privacy

BDcrafty is a general-audience craft site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Craft projects on this site may involve tools, sharp objects, heat, or materials that require adult supervision — see our Disclaimer for craft safety information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at contact@bdcrafty.com and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Links to other websites

Our site contains links to other websites, including affiliate and external resource links. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit through a link from BDcrafty.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new tool, change analytics or advertising providers, or change how we handle comments. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. The current version of this policy will always be available at https://bdcrafty.com/privacy-policy/.
